For more information regarding SMS Athletics, contact Athletic Director, Jonathan Moses.
ATHLETIC/EXTRACURRICULAR ACADEMIC PROBATION: In order to be eligible for participation in athletic events, band, club membership, or any other extracurricular activity, a SMS Student must pass four of five classes to be eligible for any extra-curricular activity. In addition, a student may be placed on athletic academic probation. Any SMS student-athlete who is not currently passing at least 4 classes will be placed on probation. Mr. Moses or the sport/club designee will check grades each Monday and inform any student who is not passing at least 4 classes that he/she will not dress for any competition until the student in question brings their grades up at the next grade check period, which will be the following Monday.
NO PASS/NO PARTICIPATION: In order to participate in any extracurricular activity in which there is competition with another school, a student must have passed four out of six subjects the preceding semester and in accordance with GHSA policies. Students retained will not be eligible for participation the fall semester of the following year. Rising sixth graders are automatically eligible.
