Principal's Message

Welcome Back Principal Letter to Students & Families

Dear SMS Students and Families,

On behalf of the staff at Swainsboro Middle School, it is my pleasure to welcome all new and returning Tigers to the 2022-2023 academic school year!

This will be my first year as principal of Swainsboro Middle School and I am thrilled at the opportunity to build positive relationships with all of you as we engage in the educational process together. The staff at SMS recognizes that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both home and school. Therefore, a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education.

The middle school years, also known as transition years, are vital to our students’ cognitive and emotional development. During these years, our students are figuring out “who they are” as we witness them develop independence, grit, curiosity, personality traits, and study habits. It is during middle school when our students begin to make decisions about their future post-secondary plans. As your principal, I will work to put our staff members in the best possible position to succeed, as they will in turn put our children in the best possible position to learn, thrive, and grow.

The wonderful SMS staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. We look forward to collaborating with you as a team to help each student at SMS meet their goals and have a successful school year!

Here’s to a great year on Tiger Trail!

Mr. Manzie Broxton, II
